Marlin Model 88-22?
« on: March 17, 2004, 11:35:57 AM »
I would really appreciate any info you learned fellows have on my old Marlin .22 LR semi-auto. It is truly a "man-sized" gun of fine large proportions for a .22.  It loads through a tubular magazine in the buttstock and functions great and is amazingly accurate as far as I have shot it. I have had it many years squirreled away in the back left corner of a gun cabinet and saw it for the first time in a long time about a week ago be accident. I must admit I had forgotten about it for about 15 YEARS!!! I aquired it in a purchase of other guns and never thought much about it. Here it is a snowy cold raw day out, so sitting here at the computer I got to thinking and dragged it out, put some cb's and a couple of Super Colibris in it and fired it in the back yard at a couple of twigs lying on top of the snow.  I was shocked when it shot where I pointed it and hit each twig!!. So that leads me here to the experts to get some info on it. Anyone out there know anything about this jewel??? Thanks....<><.... (and by the way, no serial number on this gun)

jh45gun, Thanks, It does seem comfortable to hold and shoot. "They don't make them like they used to" really means something. Mine is not a take down and does not have checkering or a peep sight. Sort of a tubular receiver with a v-notch open site with step elevator and drift in the dovetail for windage. It does however have a nice hooded ramp front sight. I appreciate all the info you have given me....<><....
