gasoline
« on: February 02, 2013, 01:52:44 AM »
Last tank cost me 2.69, now the signs say 3.19 and 3.29.  Guess that with the downtick in the robust economy, we don't need the stimulus of the 40 or 50 bucks the difference put into other things every week.

over with now. the gas and food

back on the throne.

This really hurts people who can't afford to live in the city and have to commute for a low paying job.Around here its isn't unusual to have to drive 20 miles one way to work. And a gas hike of just 50 cents takes $80.00 more a month out of their budget . In some cases that means if they eat or not.I know that doesn't sound like much, but to some people its everything they have now days .

At least in Ohio, there are two grocery chains that offer gas discounts based on what you buy from them; Krogers and Giant Eagle.  If it was more expensive to buy from them than from others, it wouldn't be worth it to buy from them just for gas discounts but their prices are as good as other comparable supermarkets.  The strategy is to use your Cabela's credit card to buy your groceries and if gift cards are available for things you are going to buy anyway, get those as well.

The last time I filled up my vehicle and some empty gas cans (they have a 30 gallon limit), I paid 1.9 cents a gallon.  The the points I earned on my Cabela's card for the purchases used to get the discount, brought my gas price to below free.

But you have to be able to buy anything in the first place or what's the point ? It wouldn't be so bad
if these businesses in this country were not capitalizing off this bad economy and job market by
paying 1980s wages. Oh they tell their employees to get a more fuel efficant car . Duhhh
And just how are they going to pay for much less buy that car on what they are being paid ?
If your not in this situation count your blessings , but when a journeyman electrician can only get
$ 10.00 an hour and that is all he can find. It isn't going to be long before this catches up with us all.
Some of these people are saying if the economy is going to crash they wish it would go ahead and
get it over with. This class envy warfair is killing them right now .

These company's do not give a damn about their people. The only reason they are so big on safety
is because they don't want to get sued in the event of an accident . Other than that they would just
throw your body off site where you kin could come pick you up. Then they would probably send your
family a bill for having to do that .

Tell me all about it.  I work in the oilfield in Alaska, we have the most intense safety programs you have every seen.  And it is all about liability.  Admittedly by most.

Oh no they act like they are so concerned about your well being.  With all the PPE they make some of
you guys wear the equipment hinders sight , is cumbersome , and gets caught up in equipment .
But if your killed or injured because of this they can say they did their part so you must have not
been following regulations . And a dead guy isn't there to say any different .
Hard hats on top of looking stupid ridding up so high on your head , only protect you from a falling
object and do nothing for a side impact . Being up on your head so high the first impact usually
knocks the hard hat off and if there is going to be one following that your screwed .
Safety vest are notorious for getting wound up in equipment and so are some of the gloves they
make you guys wear.

Maybe Darth Helmet from Spaceballs, Anna. Is this what you want in hard hat?
Actually having a hard hat sit up high offers some ventilation.

My vehicles are a pickup and a Cadillac.  Neither get good mileage.  Although Obama and many others claim gas prices are based on a global, I blame it directly on Obama who won't allow drilling.  Exports of gasoline are a neccessity under his regime.
It's my opinion that big oil should be taxed into oblivion on exports.  I don't think that would put them out of business, but it would keep our own gas in our own country.  When we are hurting for reasonable gasoline prices, it's seems crazy to allow it to be shipped somewhere else.

Sure why not , a Nazi helmet on steroids that's the ticket . Add some AC and then you will have a PC
hard hat . I would rather not have the ventilation than a crushed skull . And there are those who are
looking into what was always thought to be a safe design but has a low protection rate .
Kevlar seems to work well for the military and their helmets are not floating around on the top of
your head . Ahh but here we go with the price of a real hard hat and one that's made of plastic for
only 20 bucks issued . Now the fiber metal, metal workers hard hats are a different story .
But they cost five times as much as we can get the plastic POS ones for.

This is the cheap crap winter blend gas also with less MPG to. I think it has to do with the Ohio oil refinery fire the other day.
