heritage rough rider...I love it!
« on: July 26, 2012, 05:04:38 PM »
Just picked this up yesterday and I love it. Going to the range tonight. Can't wait! Anybody else have one of these? I paid 139 for it. No mag cylinder and no fancy wooden box but oh well.

I think they are a neat gun.  Not as smooth as some others, but for the price, I can smooth one out myself.  It's a clone of the old Colt Scout and that was a good design.  I personally have an aversion to the safety on the recoil shield, but that a personal thing.  I've heard that they shoot well, so you should enjoy it.  Good luck and good shooting!  44 Man

You can order the mag cylinder from heritage for about $35 after shipping.  I've got two and love them.

Have fun, nothing like a cowboy gun to play with!
I wonder if the grips will swap with the old Scout? Just trivia for those 'who gotta know'........
Taurus going to keep the manufacturing here?

I just saw one at a Big Box SG store, reminds me of the old FIE (?)'Buffalo' clones of the Colt's Scout, and comparatively similarly priced. Some of those shot a lot of rounds and were fun. Maybe Im too fussy now, but it didnt call my name; but I have plenty to choose from already. At least they have it priced right so people can afford to get into the 'shooting sports'. Too much stuff is priced out of range now.

I have an older one, nickle plated, faux mop grips, both cylinders.
22 mag shoots real good,lr not as well, suspect larger bore for 22 mag is the reason
why. looks great, but safety looks way out of place on revolver.
called the factory for new grips, lady I talked to confirmed early build date.
nickle played no longer made.

I apologize for reopening this post if I have bothered anyone....This was my Christmas  present to me this year. I bought the Heritage Arms combo in the 6 in.barrel set up. I have fired about 500 rds. of 22 magnum in it and it is more fun than a barrel of drunk monkeys. I will probably get the .22 LR model a little later on.  If I was stranded and in a bind I would shoot the LR ammo in it,but what I have seen and heard from others it is only a marginal performer because the magnums have a larger diameter. All of my friends from work love it.I have one friend that bought cowboy boots,Stetson hat and the leather cowboy rig to house his in. I told him in this day and age he should not be suprised if someone in a black hat walked up and challenged him to a showdown. I'm getting better with it.I can scoot a tin can for a pretty good distance with just drawing and pointing sorta like a shotgun.
I payed $ 170 for it at the local Academy Sports store. They sell a ton of them. I tried to make it early enough on Black Friday to get there in time for the$100 deal on the standard .22,but they were gone about a half hour after the store opened. I could not muster up the gumption to get out of bed at 4 a.m. to drive to the other side of town for thw 5 a.m. opening. I got mine a few days before Thanksgiving  and love to take it shooting. I have a friend that owns 85 acres of scrub oak, cactus ,and scrawny pine trees. He lets me go shooting about anytime I want to. We just had a fatality at our local indoor range so I am a little afraid to go there and pay through the teeth to shoot. It was the 2nd time someone accidentally shot and killed themselves on that range. My friend just wants me to call him on the cell phone and let him know when I come onto his land and then call him when I leave if I am shooting alone. We've known each other for over 20 yr. so he said he did not want me to be injured and just laying there..

I had one back in 2007, 22lr/22mag with the 4.5"ish barrel.  It shot great, except for one chamber .  I just used it as a 5 shot shooter for a little bit til I got ahold of Hertitage and told them about the problem.  They paid for the shipping both ways and fixed the problem.  Turn-A-Round time was about ten days.
Paid $139 for it back then.
