New .45-70 22" with Irons Latches right on
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:58:16 AM »
As the title states, my new .45-70 barrel from the classifieds here snapped right on and fits even better than the BC 32" barrel that this multibarrel setup started out as.  I'm feeling really blessed at this point that all 8 barrels have locked on with no or super minor fitting.  ;)  Cannot wait to see how my 350 gr. RNFP's shoot in this.

That's what we like, when the barrel closes just right.  After a while you can tell by the sound.  Make's you feel all satisfied.  Good on ya man.

This frame is fitted with a 32" .45-70 BC barrel, 22" .45-70, M158 30-30 with irons, .223 heavy barrel, .223 superlite, .45 Colt Carbine, 12 ga. Turkey with screw chokes, .410 full choke, and .58 cal huntsman (being modified to be 20 ga. smoothbore with screw chokes for muzzle loading shotgun.  And my .50 cal Traditions barrel latches up tight, but I haven't modified up a forend to lock this in place yet.  ;)

That is incredible!, and maybe some kind of record? You realize, of course, that you have used up your allotment of good luck now?
My SS UH 24" shoots great, hope your barrel does too.

All you need TB is a Hornet barrel to finish that set   8)

Considered hornet, but .223 will do all it will and more.  Brass is tougher and more readily available, so will probably just stick to .223.  I am considering one more barrel for the set and that's a 30-06.  I already load for the caliber, but don't have a gun that shoots it now.  It's another versatile caliber, so I will probably end up with one of those.  ;)

I have 4 frames and bought about a Half dozen barrels in the last 2 years and not a single one has latched without modification. I can't swap barrels between the 4 frames either. You are a lucky man.
