Skinner Black and Gold on Marlin Presentation Grade
« on: January 16, 2013, 08:00:41 AM »
Been looking for some time now for a good deal on a Marlin Century Limited 39A.  Found one, presentation grade, for just over $500.  Since I've seen others not as nicely 'ornamented' for well over that, I bought it.  And during my search, I had always purposed I would try some of these Skinner sites on it.  The fact is preso grade means nothing to me since I don't plan to resell it, IOW - I'm not worried about modifying the original.

Low and behold, it doens't have the 'normal' two holes drilled in the top of the receiver to accommodate the rear site.  Is there a template available to drill and tap the second hole or would you recomment just purchasing the site and taking it to a qualified gunsmith?

Those holes are 2" apart on the standard Model 39.  We would recommend ordering the sight and taking to a Gun Smith to install.

Thanks!
