Tim,
Is that the same company that made the metal trigger guard?  The one that got the really bad reviews, so much so, that Midway discontinued carrying it?  If so how is the quality/fit of this part?

Toth made some trigger guards, but you're thinking of Moyer's crap. Toth makes a good CNC machined product, he used to be a site sponsor.

I'm new to these rifles, so I ask. What's wrong with the stock ones ?

It's plastic, same as the trigger guard, they're not metal.

Actually, they're pretty sturdy.  It's a matter of preference.  Some people like metal (blued steel), others like brass, and some just settle for the (plastic) ones on the gun.

The plastic ones are fine for strength... but I have a Toth metal one on my Walnut Mannlicher... something about plastic on a nice walnut didn't sit right with me??? I have the plastic on all of my laminate stocks though, and haven't given it a second thought.

Some 'features' on these rifles we do better to just ignore. Though Ive seen some very handsome Handi's here, the old 'silk purse/sow's ear' comes to mind. Nice wood gets my eye quicker than the spacer or triggerguard.

the top tips get thin, and can't take a lot of abuse, so you have to be careful when you take the forearm off and on

on the other hand, the broken tips do nothing to affect the safety or accuracy from what I can tell on the ones I own.

I'm thinking I'll try to find an old shotgun with steel, to see if it fits.

The old ones made of steel don't work in my findings.  The pivot point was a different shape and at least on mine wasn't swappable.

Just send the $20 to Toth... its well worth it.
