Bradley Manning, the Army private accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of classified documents to WikiLeaks, told a military judge on Thursday that he contemplated suicide soon after he was arrested in 2010 and that he was kept in isolation for 23 hours a day.

Speaking in a steady voice and wearing his dress uniform and rimless eyeglasses, Manning, 24, described the conditions of his imprisonment in Kuwait and later at a Marine Corps brig at Quantico, Va., as brutal and unrelenting.

The feds have a tradition of tortuous conditions for people the don't like... I'm reminded of the four Lincoln assassination conspirators. Kept them in chains, with stifling masks on their heads in summer. Torture, of course, but that's what Stanton was after. No very Christian of him...

I can assure you Manning is recieving no worse treatment than any other serviceman being confined. To high profile to be abused in anyway.

No, but then again... I don't think he's protested not getting a hero's welcome.

Maning is a young man who made a mistake. He is too high profile of a case to be getting abused. The military process these days is not like it was back in the 50s and 60s. He will get his day in court.
 
Understandably he does not like confinement. The case against him is pretty solid, so he probably should get used to it.
 
Remember the Walkers and what they did. They cost many lives and they weren't abused in the system.
