handi rifle 25.06 weight and barrel length
« on: November 28, 2012, 03:18:15 AM »
First, thanks to those of you who replied to my other post. I have 2 questions. (1) I would like to have the 25.06 with a 24 in barrel instead of 26 in. I hunt from tree stands a lot  and facing the tree and the shorter gun is a little more efficient. Is this a bad idea? (2) of all the stock materials, which is the lightest? wood, lam..? thanks very much for your thoughts.

I have a Handi 25-06 with the 26" barrel and those two inches don't seem to bother me at all.  Granted most of my hunting is done from the ground, but I do some stand hunting in the spring.  But the Handi with a 26" barrel is still shorter than my bolt guns.

As for which stock is the lightest, I've never weighted them, but the plastic stock seems heavy to me.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

ALL stock weights are listed in the FAQs, palletwood(hardwood) stocks are lighter than lams, syns are the lightest.
