One of my buddies is in the criminal justice program at the local comm. college and had no experience with firearms. I bought my first Handi a few months before that (a 270) and decide to expose him to the thrill and satisfaction of shooting a high-powered rifle. He was hooked and didn't know it. He had to eventually fill the void in his life that i had made him aware of by simply letting him fire the rifle. Like most, he was sure that he wanted a bolt action. He had seen them in the movies and they were cool, so he was convinced that he would like one even better than than he did my single shot
He eventually scraped up enough to buy his first gun, a Marlin X7VH with a 26" bull barrel. He didn't have enough to set it up with a scope yet, so it sat for a little while. It sat long enough for him to change his mind. Not long ago, he came to my place and I showed him my most recent purchase, a 357mag Handi Rifle. Remember when I said he was hooked and didn't know it? He figured it out pretty quick after handling the 357. Today, he eagerly took his gun to the pawn shop to see what he could get for it in factory-new, unfired condition
Of course he got low-balled and sprinted out of the place, but he will probably sell it at the next gun show and put in an order for a Handi as soon as possible
The moral of the story- Be careful who you show your Handi's to, they might be raging Handi-holics and not even know it until they have been exposed
