Drill bit size

Want to install rear stud swivals on 3 Handis but don't know what size bit to use ? The fronts are clamp on barrel band type. And I am not ordering and waiting for a swival bit from a supplier.

I don't recall the bit size I used, but I measured the shank diameter without the threads with a caliper and used a bit about that size or a hair smaller and it worked fine.

I do the same as Pete. I basically just try to size match the diameter of the screw inside the threads.

That is how I do it too Drill bit same size as the thread minor diameter. A little under for wood and a little over for steel.

Same as above, but a couple tips for you... before drilling, "tape-off the bit to prevent over drilling, and after drilling use a coning bit to slightly cone the mouth of the hole to prevent splintering the wood with the wide bite wood screw stud.
