What is it?

Sorry ,but I can't post a picture.
 I have gotten a knife that I have no idea what it is for.
Markings are = CRAFTSMAN HOLLOW*GROUND 9694
It has a 10" blade that is 5/8" wide with a slight upsweep belly that comes to a squared off tip.
hollow ground with wooden scales.
The blade looks like a looong straight razor profile.
Any idea what this knife is made for?

Also sounds like it could be a vegetable knife. You know, Craftsman had put out a line of carbon steel kitchen knives at one time, to compete with the famous Old Hickory line offered by Ontario Knife Co, and one of them was a vegetable knife that fits that description, if memory serves me right. I could probably take a better stab at it (no pun intended) if you posted a picture.

Sounds like the tip broke most are rounded off if it is a slicer.
The thin upswept blade makes it sound like a slicer or carving knife.  Smaller surface area like a long thin blade creates less friction and makes a knife able to slice thin.  I remember them being a little thicker like an inch or 3/4 of an inch.  It may have been sharpened and sharpened over the years making the blade thinner and giving it an up sweep from the hilt.
Popular knife for slicing county ham, turkey or other roasts.
think back to a buffet at a hotel sunday brunch and the guy in the whites carving prime rib or roast beef and the long thin knife he had.  The long blade makes a pretty slice.  Sawing with shorter blades makes ugly slices.

So now I know it is a,,,, carving knife ;D ,, or,,,,, it might just be a veg knife :o ,,,, but it could be an insulation knife ;) ,,,, unless it is a carpet knife :-\ :-\ :-\ . :'(

So now I know it is a,,,, carving knife ;D ,, or,,,,, it might just be a veg knife :o The Japaneese use a square knife with a wide blade for vegtables.  ,,,, but it could be an insulation knife ;)  most I have seen are a little shorter and usually double sided unless it is a carpet knife :-\ :-\ :-\ . :'(  Not at 10"
