I personally would get the 45/70.  Better bullet selection and capable of all the power the vast majority cannot handle well.
I have a 15 inch encore barrel in 45/70 and with a 550 gr cast bullet at 1500 it is ALL ALL ALL did I say all,  one wants with a tapered barrel and no brake.
I have more powerful Encore pistol barrels and they are bull barrels with good brakes (SSK) that don't recoil nowhere near as much.
But on the other hand it can be quite pleasant with 300 gr factory loads.
Again I would get the 45/70 if for nothing more than more components and an abundance of good reloading data.
It's your money so do what you want.

how the  300gr factory loads without  a brake??  going to stay with 300gr bullets.. dont need a 550gr bullet to kill a deer..  a few says the factory loads dont recoil that bad???  thanks WORM

Factory 300 gr loads,  meaning like Win.  Rem or Fed are easy to shoot but still like a good 44 mag with a heavy bullet.
Let me say this.  When I emtioned the 550 gr bullet I was alluding to the fact that powerwise one is equiped for just about anything.
One does not need a 550 gr to kill a deer or even a 300 gr.
A 45 Colt with a 250 at 800 fps will kill them graveyard dead with mild recoil and no fuss no muss.
With me the 45/70's reputation was built on 405 to 500 gr bullets and I feel,  personally,  that it is a waste of a good cartridge with an outstanding reputation to wimp it down with a bullet that one can get weightwise in a 45 colt,  44 Mag and other cartridges.
Even it I was going to use a 300 gr in a 45/70 i would try for at least 2000 fps in an Encore.
Again needed no but that is just me as as I have lesser cartridges to hunt with that has less recoil and muzzle blast.
Again just me.
A 45/70 though is a good cartridge that has many possibilities with a good selection of components.

While economy is a concern for all of us (unless we have near un limited funds) if you will get on MidwayUSA you will find that brass and bullets are higher for the 45/70 on the average.
Hornady 300 gr in .458 dia. not bad for 50 and the Rem brass is 75 dollars a hundred.  Brass is the least of the problems though as as you use it the price you have in it comes down.  36 dollars for 50 when used 10 times you have $3.60 in the 50.  on and on a on.
A person can nitpick anything to death.
Bottom line get what you want and can afford.  That is what I would do.
Deep down you already know what you want so go for it.
