Shikari 155 Questions
« on: September 10, 2012, 06:43:04 PM »
A local shop has a Shikari 155 in 44 Magnum for sale for $179. The receiver has the transfer bar. What's the deal here? I thought all Shikaris were made without transfer bars? The wood finish on the stock doesn't match the forearm, but that's not too unusual by itself.  Possibly a Shikari barrel on a handi rifle recveiver? The receiver is also NOT marked SHIKARI.  The barrel does have the wooden cleaning rod.  Any safety issues here? Thanks for your response.

If it is the later receiver, and a study of the FAQ's will tell you how to discern the difference if you aren't already familiar, it is an upgrade.  I have a Shikari barrel in 44 Mag on a later receiver, love it.  No safety concerns if it locks up nice and tight.  The underlug on the Shikari's is silver soldered, not welded, but on a 44 it should never be an issue.

I think thats exactly what you have. They where made and discontinued long before a transfer bar was put in a H&R.
Also, my Shikari 44 dose not say Shikari on the receiver, only on the barrel. The receiver in case colored and says M155. Mine wears laminated wood and has had the wood rod removed.
