A hearing to consider pre-trial motions in the murder case against an Army psychiatrist charged in the Fort Hood shooting rampage has been delayed after defendant Maj. Nidal Hasan showed up in court wearing a beard.

The trial judge, Col. Gregory Gross, said Hasan's appearance at the hearing Friday violated Army regulations and is considered a disruption to the proceedings.

Gross says the hearing will be delayed until the near future when Hasan either complies with military grooming standards or watches the hearing from outside the courtroom on a video feed. Hasan's lawyers say they'll seek an exception to the grooming rule on religious grounds.

Hasan faces the death penalty if convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 2009 attack.

please...if it were Bales physical force would be employed if needed to force him to shave but in Hasan's case we cant afford to offend any muslims. Hasan joined the Army voluntarily he knew the dress code and "beard code"

i say Hasan , be put in with the pigs and let them clean him up for court.
 i say that judge needs to grow a pair and get in , get court going and get him prosecuted, beard or no.

Thank you.  That was of no help at all.  As to motivations, seems pretty damn simple.  The murdering a-hole killed a number of US citizens and military members.  I believe that is all the motivation needed for the anger expressed.

I acknowledge your anger, Casull - but do remember, MAJ Hassan is only accused of murder, and has not been convicted (just as has been repeatedly pointed out re: the infamous SGT Bates)

  Yes; The obama supporters like to call that terrorist attack "workplace violence" rather than what it is.  In hearings conducted a couple days ago the congressional questioners couldn't even get Holder to say the 2 words "Islamic terrorism"..
  By the obamabot refusal to recognize it as a terrorist attack, the soldiers who were wounded and murdered, can't even be awarded Purple hearts, after bering shot by an enemy...  And Hassan still collects $6,000.00 per month..
