Bought my first Handi
« on: June 09, 2012, 03:32:23 PM »
I picked up a .223 this week with the standard weight barrel and a synthetic stock. A Weaver style base and a set of Burris Zee rings were attatched. I really bought this for my children's first centerfire. I would like to find a set of wood furniture to cut down to thier size and may have the barrel cut down to lighten it up some also. Serial number is HY 210XXX. Is this an SB-2 frame? Just wondering if someone knows what twist rate H&R uses on their .223 bbls? I can run a tight patch through it and find out but thought someone may know off hand what it is.
I could see a 35 Remington version, if they are not immpossible to find, being in my furture as well. If they are too rare then a 30/30 might just fill the bill. Anyway it is because of lurking around here over the years that I even considered the H&R, thanks for your knowledge and opinions.

Congrats, twist rate and production year info can be found in the FAQs, it's either 1:9" or 1:12", it's an SB2 and most likely a 1:9" if it's a factory fitted barrel with that late serial number prefix.
