H&R 38-55 Target
« on: April 20, 2012, 05:58:15 PM »
OK, I give up  :)  I tried the FAQ and a search but came up empty, Me and computers don't get along very well. My question is when were the H&R 38-55 Target rifles made, and how many? I have one with a prefix of HX which I think is 2007 but that is about all I can find out about it, it's new in the box (box if rough) with all papers as far as I can tell and was wondering if it was worth saving as collectable of just go ahead and shoot it. any answers out there?? ;D

Just my opinion (and it's worth only what it cost), but if you can't shoot it...it ain't worth collecting.   ;D

Right now the highest priced ones on gun broker don't sell at all.  The ones that do are around 350-400 usually.  So price hasn't gone up since they were made, but stayed about flat.  Not exactly a money maker.  I'd shoot it if it were me.  ;)

Shoot it!!! 2007 was the last year they made it, lots have been made including the W&H version in the late 90's, I've had four 38-55 Targets,  one was rebored to a 405 Win, one is as original except it's been throated, two were cut to 18", one of which resides in da UP now at Pete's.  ;D

You might as well enjoy it by shooting it.......if you take care of it as well as most of us do, it will hold its value anyway.
But since Ive only got two, what do I know??? :P
