Just thought Y'all might want to make some fine quality gun oil.

This is from a book dated 1920.

When I used to work in road building the tacky stinky oil between layers of asphalt was called bitch, probably still is.

Regional dialect thing? Around these parts we called it pitch. Granted I wasn't doing the paving though. I was on the concrete forming crew, but we had to answer when someone new asked, "what in the world is that smell?"  8)
