New .357 Mag just converted to MAX, THANKS TIM, Got about 200 total rounds through it.
Noticed the firing pin hits well off-center to the 8 O:clock direction. Measured the barrel to frame dimensions at lock up, and there is definite off-set to the right. This could be the outside dimensions of the frame adding to the appearance of off-set. I also noted that the latch and lug are only touching on the right side, and very little then, based solely on the wear marks. This is the side with the alignment hole, so that made sense. There is also uneven wear on the pivot recess where the lug meets the hinge pin.
In an effort to see it this is a frame or barrel issue I have tried this barrel on another SB1, tracker 2 frame, but the barrel wouldn't lock up-too long. The tracker barrel was loose laterally on the MAX frame, so I did not learn much there. I have another reciever, SB2, that I am picking up from my FFL today to try, but this has me wondering if this misalignment might be the root of my accuracy questions.....
Anyone know if I could still return this for a factory warranty "repair" where I have reamed to MAX?
Would this be a "repair" issue as it fires, and the accuracy is about 2.5 MOA ?
Tried the FAQ already, and read lots about barrel fitting for both lateral or vertical looseness issues. This isn't loose at all...... so most of those fixes are out.
Thanks
