Everything I've seen on this round is that it's ok for deer or smaller. It is quite explosive and I don't think it would work from a 30-30 especially on Elk. I think that 30-30 in general can be used to take about anything in N. America, but it's a bit weak for the bigger ends, like moose, elk, brown bear, etc. Again, I know it can take these, but there are much better rifles in my opinion.

I might add that I have tested these for expansion in .45-70 and got over expansion and separation of jacket and core on over 80% of the shots fired. I had only 2 that mushroomed correctly at all. I am about to test some in .32 Special also, but thus far they seem too reactive to me.
