Hi guys.
Where can I find a barrel other than 30-06 for my smith corona action. I see many for mausers; but none for springfields.
thanks.

The availability of barrels is due to the number of mausers available for rebarreling.. I would warn you that if the action on your Springfield has NOT been drilled and tapped and the bolt modified doing so could prove very expensive. The value of 1903's of all kinds has skyrocketted. I would instead advise you to remilitarize the weapon and sell it. Buy one already altered and any good smith can easily thread a barrel and fit it to your action.. Even the barrels advertised everywhere must be fit by a smith..

Gunnut69.
Thanks for the response. I should have clarified in my original post. I bought the rifle in its original configuration. The receiver was tapped and the the barrel was badly pitted from standing up in a rack for 40yrs. The stock however was mint. I paid 150 for the rifle and sold the stock for 125. I was thinking that I now have a good action for for a semi/custom job. I have purchased barrels from midway for a mauser before and it has worked very well for me.
I was hoping the same set up would be obtainable from a similar company. I was looking to biuld a whelen or other "classic" caliber.
As a bonus; the rifle has Griffin and Howe mounts on it; So thats kinda the theme I'm trying to go for.
Thanks for the info.

You can find new in the arsenal grease barrels for the 03A3 on Ebay. The go for $40-60 bucks each. You may have to watch for a few weeks, but one will pop up. Fairly common.

Howdy, try Douglas barrels online, they have a variety of offerings from plain blanks to prethreaded,short-chambered inalmost any caliber that you could want. Pac-nor is another although somewhat more expensive.Regards, jim
