Well my son is back from collage and he took off with his new 35 Whelen Handy this afternoon.He killed a small buck at a 148 steps. This was his first shot with it as I got it ready for him while he was at school . I haven't seen the pics yet but the 200 gr Hornaday Spire Point went right through the rib cage just behind the shoulder leaving about a 3" hole. The buck went straight down and my son called about a minute later . I guess this rifle will have a hallowed place in his vault. I loaded 56grs of H4895 ,Remington Large Rifle Primers ,and Remington brass . Gee I might have to get one now and I was leaning toward a 45-70 .
