It is FEBRUARY 6th. Just saw two flights of geese go over, not the locals that hang around all year, these are the big boys. The locals fly around in family flocks, from a dozen to 50-60 birds, and they stay low, in the bottom 300-500 feet. These were probably 400-500 birds, up at least a half mile, maybe 3500 feet, and headed magnetic north , not wasting any time. I they know things we don't, so I would say that means they expect open waters, and I will bet we have no prolonged or serious cold snaps . Lots of bugs this year. I need to dig out my armadillo gun

Every year I love to hear them, it means I made another year. I still get cold chills every time I hear it. I am at exactly 38 degrees north. OK guys in Iowa, they are on the way.
