Lightweight 357 4"

Looking for a lightweight 4" 357 to be a carry along gun. Occassionally see a 357 Mountain and friend has one of the new SSR's. Thinking few years ago there was a run of Scandium guns? Seems like Phil Shoemaker even talked about his daughter carrying one. Am I remembering correctly, anybody know a model number or even have experience with one?

I think you can get a S&W327 with a four inch barrel. I've seen plenty of six inchers out there. I don't remember S&W ever offering an alloy K frame in 357 mag, even though there were some 38 Spls made for the military. All the lightweight J frame 357s I've seen had 3 inch or shorter barrels

S&W has made the Mountain gun in 357 Magnum on the L frame. These are all steel and weigh about 36 oz. You might be able to find one on the used market. They have several 4 inch L frames in their catalog that weigh less than 40 oz. If you want to go lighter look at the Model 60 3 inch. This one is steel and weighs 23 oz. They also make a 3 inch M&P 360 at 15 oz. One thing I have noticed is the newer 3 inch S&W's seem to run pretty fast. Check out the Buffalo Bore web site for some velocity numbers out of the 3 inch barrel. Pretty impressive.

I saw something at the local dealer that might fill the bill too. It was a S&W Model 60, .357 mag, adjustable sights, and either a 3 or 4 inch barrel.

I have a standard 60 with the 3" barrel abd adj sights as well...I like it allot but seem to carry my 4" 29 MTN gun more. Havng said that, I think the 3" 60 with adj sights is almost perfect for what you are looking for.
