(new pics after finish) Tenders and Laminates!

I had never made a grip from laminate. So for Fathers Day I went to the shop and made my first. I wanted a little flash in the design so I cut out a Baron Grip and Schnabel forearm. The laminates come in pretty flashy colors and I went with the Red/Black.

Dave, what did you use for finish and how did you apply it? What ever it was it really brought the colors out. Sure looks nice.

I use Formbys High Gloss furniture finish on the laminates. I apply several thin coats with a link free cloth rubbed down often ever 2 to 3 coats with 0000 steel wool.

That is a Redfield 3 ring base set. I've had a set on an XP-100 for more than 20 years, and they're good and solid - all steel. I don't know if they're still made.
