sights for 357
« on: July 29, 2011, 11:26:59 PM »
I have trouble seeing the dark factory sights.  I looked at the FAQ section but could not find specifics.  I have the see though mounts for the scope but would like to add some sort of fire sights as a back up.   Is there specific height for the front sight and any specifics on the the rear ramp sight? From the FAQ section it seems like the front is a 3/8 dovetail??

I'm in the same boat with my .44 mag.  I compared the cost of a nice peep with with a scope and decided that a scope would be a better option...

Concerning modern H&R barrels, only the Buffalo Classics( and some rimfires) have dovetailed front sights, all the rest are screw mounted, see the Peep and Firesights link in the FAQs for suggestions on screw mounted fiber optic front sights. If your 357 has a Williams WGOS barrel sight, you can order a fiber optic ramp for it, they'll be able to tell you what front sight to use also, their number and sight height calculators can be found in the peep/firesights link.
