I know this subject has been covered(I read most of the posts) but my problem is:
1.Sent low # action for easy open conversion with 22 lr bbl got it back works most of the time.
2. Put on a 357 maximum barrel and it works 10-20% of the time.
3.If I switch the selector to rimfire with the 357 max bbl the hammer makes contact with the firing pin!
4. Going slightly crazy trying to figure out why the rimfire selector works but not the centerfire?
any thoughts? Tim
PS After rereading other misfire posts I bought some spray cleaner degreaser, blasted the action and then sprayed with a drilube. It seems to be all fixed, will go to the range and see if it really is fixed. Tim
PPS 7/25/2011 went to range today and tried 22 match rifle. Fired about 60 rounds and had 2 FTF but fired second time. I'll try centerfire barrel tomarrow. Tim
ppps. Went to range yesterday with the 357 max barrel and had zero misfires out of 70 shots. I'm a happy camper! I was at a 50 ft indoor range so had to stick to 38special loads but at least the Contender worked. I'll be sticking to Gun Blaster to clean the action and Hoppes #9 Drilube for lubrication from now on, thanks to all for putting up with my sad little story with a happy ending! Tim
