I've used .44 mag for 15 years for deer, only times I don't get meat with the .44 is when I opt for the .45-70, or a muzzleloader.
 
2400 and 240gr cast bullets work for me, longest shot was 60 yards, closest shot was 6 feet.  I use open sights, and hunt from the ground.

The 240 gr Hornady XTP-HP settin on top of 24.0gr of H-110 had been a standard load for me for 17-18 years.  It's put a few truckloads of Mule deer in the freezer and a few Whitetails for seasoning.  Been a couple of years since useing the 44 for at least one deer.  Too many new toys, not enough tags. :(   DP

i have been shooting the 357 not real pleased if i can't get it sraightend out ill get 44mg barrel i know how well they will shoot.
