How to Tighten the Firing Pin Bushing
« on: July 16, 2011, 07:08:56 AM »
On my G2 frame the screw securing the round firing pin bushing through which the two firing pins protrude loosened some. This screw is visible when the hammer is cocked. Under the pressure of the firing pin springs, I guess, the round firing pin bushing moved foward ever so sightly allowing a barrel to hang up on it.   Without removing the hammer, there's no real access to the screw because it's got a slotted head rather than Allen or Torx. I did manage to get a skinny shanked screwdriver in there to tighten the thing, at least for time being.   Any suggestions for tightening other than disassembly?

I had the same trouble with my original frame.  I took a 8 penny nail and bent it in a vise and made a "L" shaped screwdriver.  I then filed the tip of the nail to fit the slot of the screw.  A little green lock tite and the screw won't move.

Any good local hardware store should have offset screw drivers(just like the typical allen wrench)for goth phillips and slotted head screws.  It's not nearly as much of a chore to remove the hammer in a G-2 but it's still easier just to have the right tool.  You should be able to find the right size blade on both ends with each one made 90 degrees apart.  This will help greatly because the available arc on the screw head will be pretty small. ;)
