Chinese Motor Guide trolling motor (?)
« on: June 24, 2011, 07:54:16 PM »
As I was opening the box I saw that is was "Made in China".    Damn!  I was so sure they were made in USA that I didn't even check first!   I wonder how many Americans were cheated out of a job by MotorGuide and Cabelas on this one.

I hope they go broke and rot in hell!

I wonder if China will provide us with electronics when we have to retaliate against N. Korea for nuking the USA?

Lower unit is likely covered with lead based paint to pollute the lakes too ;).

Face it the world is made in China. We live too well, our stuff costs to much when made by us, and no one else can afford it either. Soon we will all be living in third world squaller. After we have learned our lesson about independence we will be bailed out by the Chinese seeking cheaply built plastic crap.

Same thing happened to me with Hummingbird locators. My old one failed ( made in USA), so I replaced it with a new similar model. And much to my surprize, it is NOW MADE IN CHINA.

I'm starting to accumulate a whole pile of curency that is NOT getting spent because I won't pi$$ it away on Chinese goods.  I'd rather go without than cheat more Americans out of jobs they should have!   And I don't have to "face it" and buy Chinese.  I can repair my some of my old stuff, furthermore, I grew up on lead based paint and it didn't hurt me any because I wasn't stupid enough to try and eat it!~ JMHO

Our government wants us to think that companies move overseas because of cheaper labor costs when the real culprit here is taxation.  Think about it.   State tax, federal tax, unemployment comp, worker's comp, social security, medicare tax, and that doesn't even get to sales tax, gas tax inheritance tax, capital gains tax, etc.  Only a fool or patriot would start a business in the USA.  Our government has driven business out of this country, not Americans wanting a days pay for a days work.   There is nothing wrong with Americans making a good living!

Don't forget the environmental regulations!  Not that I am against them, but we need to have tarrifs in place to offset those costs with what China doesn't do.  I.e. if it would cost a company in the U.S. a certain amount per widget to comply with our environmental (and sociological) regulations, the imports should be charged that in tax unless they comply with our regs.  But you won't see our politicians do anything like that!

Does what I said make sense?  I hope so but I get a touch worked up about this and my thinking gets confused....

Makes PERFECT sense!  You could never be a congressman if you think like that.

We have to vote them out, EVERY  election, until we get a good one.  The test includes introducing legislation like term limits, self paid retirement & health insurance, etc..

I guess I'm pirating my own thread.  I was disapointed that Motor Guide went overseas for a product that was "born in the USA!"
