Shell deformaion in my Contender
« on: June 29, 2011, 11:21:35 AM »
The cases of the 22 shorts that I have been using blow back into the center fire hole in my Contender.  Never noticed it before.  Anybody else experience this?  Sometimes it can breaking it open difficult.

I can’t answer your question, but I shoot the CCI Short Hollow Points with good accuracy…

That said, I wonder if you have some sort of case that is super soft and that allows it to flow into the centerfire firing pin hole?...

What brand name?  A popular brand or maybe an off-brand name?  Maybe a very low pressure round that just doesn't have enough pressre to grip the chamber wall?...

Good-luck…BCB

It was imported by Hanson firearms ages ago from Privi Partizen, I think.  Just got some CCI rounds, I'll try them tomorrow.

Don't know about that brass at all...

I wonder if it could be an inferior inexpensive round and just plain soft or barrly within specs?...

Well, we have learned something.  Cheap crap ammo can blow back and flow around the firing pin openings on a Contender.

I just got some Centurion 5mm RF stuff... hmmmmmm

and that little amount of metal can make it very difficult to open the gun up.  First time it happened I freaked.  My thought was "what did that .22 short do to my Contender?". ;D

Also, zero signs of a problem with CCI .17HMR
