First blood!
« on: May 31, 2011, 01:22:02 PM »
I purchased this rifle from another member on this board a few weeks back and finally got around to loading some brass and putting a scope on the rifle. The caliber is 22-454... a neat little round :)
This morning I sighted the rifle in shooting out a window into a backstop just for that purpose, I stopped shooting to clean the rifle and when I returned to shoot there was a woodchuck just waiting for me!
DRT!!!  the Barnes 50gr Varmintator bullet did not open up at 41 yards moving 3600 fps from the muzzle... kind of disappointed

The data Wayne Baker provided me with has a 45gr bullet maxed out at just over 4200 fps... not much different than a swift and no up to 223 wssm.
This cartridge is a labor of love... other wise hard to justify the cost LOL

Hairtrigger...

Now that is an interesting combination!  Really boots those .22 cal bullets out with authority.

Nice of that chuck to wait til you were all dialed-in before making his (last) debut.

Too bad Ruger doesn't sell the #1 actions, they would make a wonderful platform for all sorts of interesting wildcats.
