Older taurus 22lr revolver w/4" barrel
« on: April 21, 2011, 03:46:20 PM »
I just picked up an older used taurus DA 22lr revolver but i have no clue as to how old it is.  It looks like new and i paid only $229 for it.  Its a nine shot cylinder.  It looks like a miniature S&W and the action is smooth and the trigger pull is ok too.  The used ones like this seem to sell out quickly.  Most new 22cal revolers are priced higher lately.  I been eyeing the charter arms DA revolver  in 22lr/22wmr too.  Bill

I have one of these I bought new somewhere around the early 90's.  It's been trouble free and reliable.
SA trigger pull is good, DA pull is reasonably smooth, but a little heavy.

The older ones (like mine) have a non-shrouded ejector rod.  The newer ones I think have shrouded rods.

Haven't been to the Taurus website lately, but they used to have a feature where you could enter your serial number and it would tell you the year of manufacture.

As mentioned above, I think they came out 1990 or so, in 3: and 4" versions, blue and stainless versions. The speedloaders for the old H&R revolvers work just fine for them. I think the S&W "J" frame grips will work with them. I like 'em.

Yep, model 94. Had one myself.  Not a bad little gun.  My wife qualified for her CCW with it.  Got traded off toward a Ruger MKII target a while back.

I acquired an older Mod 94 SS & 3"barrel that compares to any of my S&W's, really nice trigger that improved even more with Wolff springs and no light strikes! I liked it so well I ordered a new one with a 4" barrel, what a piece of junk that was, it required two fingers to shoot double action and not much better single action. Action was rough and gritty as well. It got traded off pretty fast to someone that thought it was a great little gun.

Seams like some are nice guns, and some are not so nice. If you get a good one, hang onto it.

I let the wife shoot my taurus 94 today and i think i no longer own it.  She loves it. She was shooting it in double action the whole time.  I told her congrats for shooting it that way.  She is flinch'in but i told her she needs to shoot more and that will go away.  CZY
