Difference in sling attachment Method and accuracy ?
« on: August 03, 2011, 07:32:06 AM »
I really like the looks of using the barrel band attachment for the front swivel attachment but I am curious as to whether it will have any detrimental effects on the accuracy as opposed to using the screw in front of the forearm. Appreciate the input

After investigating this more on other sites about the best I can come up with is that if used only as a carrying method and not as a shooting sling that the barrel mounted sling attachment will have no effect and even if used as a shooting aid it may not make enough difference to matter. On the other hand I have also read that using the type that screws into the action tube(the tube that the forend is wrapped around puts pressure on the tube and may in fact bend it .I guess it would depend on how much pressure was put against the rifle whether it would bend it or not ,I am just going to go ahead and use the barrel band for a front attachment and experiment with any Point of impact changes.

The barrel band type won't hurt accuracy.
Rem 760 30-06 with the Uncle Mike's barrel band sling swivel. Three shots @ 100 yards.
