Neat Picture but it looks like a pile of work. The catching is the fun part then there is the hauling to the road and the putting them up.
What does the biggest one weigh in at? Bet it was farthest from the truck too :-)

If he walked them out to the road, the biggest one weighed 200lbs by the time he got there! LOL Thank God for ATV's!

The biggest one weighed 76 #s and was furtherest from truck.  Approxmately 1/2 mile thru swamp.  I admit i stopped a couple times and rested.  I use a sling over shoulder  with  dog choker chains on each end that attach to one front foot and one rear.  Works well as leaves hands free but 76#s still digs into your shoulder.   Im supposed to have a younger partner to carry them out for me:  trouble is im the younger partner; my partner is 76!!!!!

I know it takes away from the compact idea of the chain. But a little rubber hose or some foam tubing goes a long way in taking the bite out of the chain. I like to put 3/4 heater hose over the handles on the buckets I use for dry dirt for the same reason.

If I'm off the road more than 100 yards,I use a jet sled{small}.The black ones ice fishermen use.It glides on dirt, mud, snow ice and even floats. The gear is always beside me,and clipped to my belt. This way it dose not float off. It's great for packing out beavers. The sleds are lite and fast to use.If checking I have the tools i need in my hand and sled is empty. If I have some gear in it I just straps it in with bunggies.Great for muskrats in the swamp and setting out duck decoys too.. Try it you like them.
