Freedom Arms 300gr bullet mold?
« on: April 28, 2011, 08:58:07 AM »
Hello,

From what I understand, Freedom Arms used to sell a Lyman 300gr bullet mold for the 454 Casull.  Does anybody know what # that was.  Any other information would be appreciated.

The mold currently listed on Lyman's site is 452651, a 325gr Round Nose Flat Point, Gas Check  bullet.

http://www.lymanproducts.com/lyman/bullet-casting/mould-details.php?entryID=35

They also show a 454 Casull load for this bullet in the Lyman Cast Bullet Manual, 4th ed.  Graybeard mentions  that he has had success with this bullet in a reply to a post not too long ago, titled something like "Witch bullet for the 454....."

The Lyman Cast Bullet Manual 4th ed. does show a 300gr bullet load, for a Saeco #454 mold, and for a 255gr bullet from Lyman #452490.  All  gas check bullets.

LEE offers a 300gr RNFP  gas check mold for the 454.

Thanks guys,

From what I could find online, it is the 454628 and 454629.  I however have not found any company that cast these bullets, nor found either mold for sale.

Just talked to my buddy who has my molds and he said theres three. The 260 plain base and a plain base and gas checked 300. Been so long since i used them that i had forgot. One thing i did remember though is I never got any exceptional results with them and the buddy said he didnt either.
