TC Refinished Stainless
« on: May 17, 2011, 06:23:18 PM »
I have a stainless Contender frame I purchased back in the early '90s and when it was just a couple of years old it was laying on the carpet in my apartment while I was away for a couple of weeks working. While away the old rock hunting lodge sweated and soaked my carpet, pitting the frame and causing a little rust toward the end of the barrel.

The other day I learned that TC can refinish the stainless and possibly remove some or all of the pitting. Has anyone used this service? If so, how were the results?

Don't know about TC's refinishing service, but Flitz Stick Compound (or Dico) and a felt point and/or cloth wheel in a Forster or Dremel rotary tool will make it like new.   It actually removes the top surfaces, how much depends on how much pressure and for how long, so it can also remove pitting without degrading the frames edges, serial number, etchings, etc if they are not too deep.   With controlled buffing you can achieve a final finish from satin to a mirror polish on stainless steel.

Years ago I did a Taurus 431 44SPL pre-lock stainless pistol I had to a mirror finish with my Forster and Flitz as above, and it was easy.

One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
