MEPLAT. Thanks, a great song. We sang it at church Sunday. A while back I saw and heard the Jericho Road on tv. I love that song. POWDERMAN.

I remember when the did this song years ago. They still sound pretty much the same.

We have a local tv ch that has the old time Gospel hour every Mon night at 11 pm. A while back they featured the Blackwood brothers, another night the Chuck wagon gang. Thats the music I was raised on and thats what I like. Don't care for the yuppie stuff so many listen to today and some of the so called modern Gospel doesn't seem Christian at all. MEPLAT posted a link for LIFES RAILWAY TO HEAVEN that I go to and listen often, also found it by Patsy Cline. Maybe somebody can find the Jericho Road. Charlie.

Give me the old hymns every time. There is a reason why they are OLD hymns,  they are great .  How many of the new stuff will live to be old.

BILMAC. Another thing that I find disgusting is when some yahoo takes a beautiful old song and butchers it, totally changing it's meaning. A gospel song is a message from the author to God himself, and NOBODY should have the right to change that. POWDERMAN.

It is called 7-11 music. Seven words repeated eleven times. Not much message in that.

Even some of the best of the new songs from a few years ago are fading away.

One of the great ones that should have special meaning for us outdoorsmen like us "Fot The Beauty of the Earth" has been around since 1864. "A Mighty Fortress" was written in 1529. "The Hallelujah Chorus" was written in 1742. Guess I'm just an ol stick in the mud, let the new music prove itself.

At a church we used to attend some younger folks decided to sing, The Old Rugged Cross, I was excited, til they opened their mouths. After church they asked how I liked it, I told them that there was no woooeeeyyyy yoooooeeeyyyy yaya in that song as I knew it. It was disgusting. POWDERMAN.

SLIM. Me too. REAL Gospel music is like a sermon put into music. I can get stressed and listen to some good old time Gospel music and feel better real quick. POWDERMAN.
