Remington Triggers
« on: March 24, 2011, 07:28:21 AM »
Do all of new Remingtons now come with the x-mark trigger?  I am going to buy a 7mm-08 in the Mountain LSS model "if" it comes with the old trigger... The guy at Cabela's couldn't tell me for sure, if you can believe that, and there is no way I want the x-trigger from what I've heard about it. I will break the Seals of God instead...

The X Mark is an EXCELLENT trigger perhaps the best Remington has put on the Model 700/Sevens yet.

BUT the X Mark Pro they are now using is junk in my opinion. I have only one of them and seriously doubt I'll buy another Remington with that trigger in it. I will be switching it out on the rifle I have with it.

Look on the trigger to see if it has a tiny allen head screw in the trigger. If so it's the X Mark Pro. If it doesn't it will either be the the Walker trigger also excellent or the X Mark an even better trigger. Which depends on the age of the rifle.

I love those LSS Mtn. Rifles and have had one of everyone of them except the .280 which I'll likely get one day.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about the rifle.  I've handled them, but not shot one.  Now I just need to find one in 7mm-08, Cabela's is looking for me.  Although I did find a new one online but then I have to deal with a FFL and the one near me charges $50!  Seems a little steep to me....

Understand my comments are based on a personal sample of ONE but I've heard much the same from many others about the trigger.

It came from the factory set heavier than I like my triggers to be as do all Remington rifles. I pretty much always lower them to 3 pounds give or take a few ounces. Some times I'll go lower on Varmint/target rifles and some times leave it at 3.25 pounds to 3.5 pounds on big game hunting rifles.

I followed factory instructions to lower the pull and instead it got heavier and varied widely in pull. I messed around with it enough to know that trigger assembly in my rifle is junk and cannot be adjusted period. If yours works fine but mine doesn't and most folks who actually have rifles with the X Mark Pro that I've seen comment say similar things.

Remington offered to send a replacement just like it but it has to go to an FFL they won't send it directly to me. If I'm gonna hafta replace it I sure am not getting another like it to put on I'll get an after market or one of the older Walker triggers to replace it.
