Rifle scope on a pistol barrel. How do you hold it??
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:34:42 AM »
I think I am going to put a rifle scope on my 14" 17Remington. I am confused on what is the best way to hold the gun. Do you hold it using the "Taco" hold that the standing silhouette shooters do? Or just rest it and get up close to the scope? I'm sure this is a dumb question but I have never used a rifle scope on a pistol.

I usually rest it.  With the rifle scope cranked up to 10.5 my target would be jumping all over if I tried standing, no matter the hold.

If you decide to try the TACO hold, first shoot a three shot group at 100 or better yet 200 yards, then at the same target, shoot a three shot group and see if your group impacts in a different area or not.
