Accessory Barrel - Modifying an Existing Order
« on: January 30, 2011, 02:39:39 AM »
I recently sent my receiver in for the new Trapper 45-70 and 44 mag barrels.  I have received notification that they have received my receiver/order.  Since sending my receiver in, I have noted that the 7.62x39 barrel is now listed as available in the accessory barrel FAQ.

My question is - will I invite disaster if I try to add the 7.62x39 barrel to the existing work order that is now active?  I know from reading many posts here that you must call Ilion and not Madison on such things, but for the life of me I cannot seem to locate the phone number for Ilion.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.  I have a feeling that the 7.62x39 barrels won't last long based on folks here that love theirs.

It does not matter if it slows your order up a week or so or not. Search for those numbers, call, and add it. Your right that those barrels will not last long. Get one while you can....<><...:)

I'd call Madison and start there, (866)776-9292.  ;) There is another number in Madison that may work also.

I called the number they had on the confirmation of receiver received email (800 243 9700) to attempt to add a stock last week.
They had no idea of the 35Rem barrel # I gave them and didn't seem to want to talk about stocks, only to say the Lam stocks they had were either Camo or Cinn. He was nice enough, but was not at Ilion. So I thanked him for his time. I'm wondering if the 315 895 3200 for the custom shop will reach a Handi person near my barrel accessory order so I can add another barrel or stock set to it? -g

The number one problem with contacting Madison Customer Support has always been getting someone with the right answers, you could call three times and get three different answers from 3 different CS reps, best advice I can offer is keep trying.

It can be frustrating to say the least and pretty sorry that we here have a better handle on what they do, have and can offer then the CS reps at the company that makes them can... Many many complain about miss information they have received. I'll tell ya, you will get it straight here, you can be assured of that.

We have a member here from Remington, sorry I do not remember his handle, but his name is Brian. He is helping everywhere he can, so they are listening it will just take some time..

I completely understand the 3 different people, 3 different answers issue. I have a know-it-all that knows nothing in my office. Where's Brian from Remington? Maybe he personally knows of someone to call that is "in the know".

Thanks, DInny

Harold!!

We do not handle order up dates here at Ilion. All updates must go through Madison.

Tim's right. I just got off the phone with Madison, NC. My second call got a person that seemed to know the process and added a stock set and forearm fit to my soon to be 35Rem/357 order. Things are looking up  :) -g

I was suprised they didn't balk when I gave them the part# for the gray lam stock / forearm and asked that the forearm be fitted to the 35Rem barrel, as I was attempting to do on my first try/call.  I was told that I will receive conformation to my email from Ilion.  I'll check when I get home. I'm not out of the woods and continue to hope my (35Rem-gray lam) combo request will more than just a want.  :P -g

Gentlemen,

Thank you so much for the help.  I called in today,  and talked to a very friendly lady who was adamant that they were not in stock.  The part number did not pull in her computer, she looked it up manually - found it, and was very sincere in her belief that they had none in stock.

I asked her to put the part number down on the order form anyway, and told her that maybe I would get lucky at the Ilion facility.

She called back a few minutes later and left a message on my phone that she spoke to the lady that handles the accessory barrel program.  She said that the 7.62x39 barrels are not a part of the accessory barrel program, and are strictly for rifles serial numbered for that caliber.

So much for that idea.

Thanks again for the assistance.

Harold

They may have been replacements for defective returns at one time, but if you really want one, I'd send it in.  ;) In about a month you'll find out from those that did just that and sent orders in, only there won't be any left by then!!  :P

Thanks Tim,  It is already there, logged into the system and in queue.  I asked her to put it down anyway on my order list, but I have a feeling she didn't bother after she was told by her colleague that they were not available.

I am still looking forward to those Trapper barrels though!

Just wanted to post an update, and thank everyone for their advice.  A big box came this week from Remington with my new toys in it.  While placing my order, I kept in mind advice that Tim had given in another thread to the effect of "if you are going to send your receiver in, order enough barrels to make it worthwhile"  or something like that...  ;)

So this week I received a:
7.62x39 barrel with scope rail
.223 bull barrel with scope rail
Talo Trapper 45-70 barrel with sights
Talo Trapper 44 mag barrel with sights
20 Gauge Shotgun barrel
28 Gauge Shotgun barrel

So now my .357 mag barrel has company in the safe!

I also wanted to thank our guardian angel at the factory.  He sure makes a difference!
