I stole a handi today......
« on: February 13, 2011, 07:02:22 AM »
LOL.... Went to look for a couple at a store i dont get to very often. Just needed a couple things and ran across a plain Jane handi 243 with a Nikon 3x9  prostaff scope. $169!!!!!!!!!!! How could I say no!!!   I needed another receiver, can always use a scope and I needed a set of stocks too!! I'll sell barrel and everyone is happy!!

I'm tickled pink! I had to share!! They had three handis.  Another ratty 22 Hornet for more $159 and a ultra 243 for $219. They also had a well worn 45-70 pallet wood for same $.

nice pickup CW, they don't have stores like that around me.  Last used handi I looked at, an '06 pallet wood w/o scope, they wanted $249.  Be careful lettin' folks know you "stole" this gun, one of our LEOs might have to confiscate it for evidence. ;D

I was in a "gunstore" a while back and noticed a rifle I didn't recognize, he handed it over and it was a used Rossi with a Tasco on it.  When asked for a price he quoted $300.  He had quite a few handi's in there but after that I didn't ask any prices.  This was a couple of weeks after picking up the used .223 for $160 in another store.
Which lie got to you so that you refuse Him???

That was an awesome deal, good for you. I wouldn't have passed it up either. Heck the Nikon scope is worth about $100 by itself.
I think I would trade or sell the barrel for another caliber I wanted if it was me.

Extractor!!  This is a new (er) gun. (NW sn.)
Overall very clean but it was shot a bit as when I cleaned the barrel, I got some copper and powder fouling out of it. I also found the base screws had oil on them and where only snug. The rings to base screws where very loose and old style weaver ring screws, finger tight!
I am willing to be this was sold because it would not group... Poor thing never had a chance to show what it could do!!!  ::) :o ;D

I fit the receiver to my Maxi with the 158 receiver. It was too long, couple passes with a dremel in the hinge pivot and it fit like a glove!!! Nice and snug side to side too. (No more SB1 receivers on my Maxis!)

Stocks are cleaned and scuffed then sprayed with bed coating and hanging in the drying box waiting for the rim-fire receiver I bought last week.

Now if the weather would break and some of this snow would melt I could go to the range.

Weather broke here, mid 30s+ today and sun, wind felt warm even blowing across all the snow.
I dug out the 50yd. 'hanger rail from about 18" of snow left so I can see the swngers again and took a shot  ;D ;D ;D.
Spring is coming! heheheh.
