Jukar rifle

My daughter and her daughter moved into a rental house a few months ago. While looking around the garage one day she pointed up into the rafters and said that looks like a gun Dad. It turned out to be a Jukars made in Spain muzzle loading rifle. Looks to be about a 45 cal but does not say on the barrel. Looks to be a typical kit gun. Two piece full length stock. Needs a nipple and a ram rod. Looks like it was put together and not shot. Pretty rough shape and the bore is rusty but the rifling looks sharp still. Going to take it apart and clean it up best I can and then see how it shoots. Anyone know anything about this brand? What load should I try first. Should I tie it to a tree the first couple shots!

Cheap, made in Spain entry level rifles.  Some folks love theirs, others curse them.  It probably is .45, as you say.  Clean it up, start with a load of about 1 1/2 times the caliber for round ball, so around 67 grains of 3Fg, then work up and down from there to get best accuracy.  I think I would tie it to a tire, then run a long string from the trigger to proof it. 

Nice find, by the way.  You can't complain about a freebie like that!    :D

They are a cheap rifle but I wouldn't worry about the strength, they have OK barrels and often shoot very well.

Have on and consider it junk.
My father bought it sometimes in the 70s and it is a rock lock.  It fires about once in 5 attempts but as I said it has a different ignition system.  I would hang your Jukar on the wall and buy something else, but that is just me talking.

I have one and hunt with it.  I feel very good with it out to 60 to 75 yards.  Kinda picky about the loads but it will kill a deer.  Clean her up and shoot it!  <>< del

I had one in the early 80s  good rifle.
It ran really well on PRB over a 60gr load of BP or 20gr of BP load for squirrels.
