Okay, I bent the Burris Zee rings with my 30.06 15" Encore. Seems like the recoil did it since one of the rings was leaning forward. Should I go for the Burris Dual Dovetail rings and base this time? Any comments about past experiences will be appreciated.

I have the Warne Maxima base and rings on both of my Encore barrels (209X50 and .223). They may be a little overkill and heavy, but I'm planning on mounting them on my .308 15" barrel when I decide to scope it. I think the Warne set-up is probably the strongest out there. Aside from the SSK T'SOB.

Might I enquire as to what base you are using? I've gone through a number of set ups with questionable results. As of late I've found a setup that works. First off, stay away from steel bases. Aluminum can be sinched tighter because it compresses more. I've found Millets rings to grip glossy scopes very well. If you're bending rings try 3 rings per scope.
If you have 2 bbls that need scopes, buy 3 sets of millet rings and split the odd ones. This works great for me.

Can't go wrong with a TSOB!! At our local club a fella showed up with his 450 Marlin barrel, a 15" w/tc brake. He had a weaver base and rings and topped it with a 2x6 Bushnell pistol scope. I told him that he'd better upgrade(to a TSOB) or eat the scope eventually! 3 weeks later all 4-screws holding base to barrel stripped out on recoil and knocked him straight between the eyes knocking him out for about 15 seconds!! His solution was having a gunsmith re-tap with next size up screws. "THOSE WHO FORGET HISTORY ARE DEEMED TO REPEAT IT" is a good quote for this situiation, don't you think!
