Limbsaver 10003 Limbsaver Recoil Pad
« on: December 23, 2010, 10:36:38 AM »
has anyone put one of these 10003 Limbsaver Recoil Pads on a handi-rifle? it says it is for the H&R slug gun and two or three other makes of rifles. I was wondering just how close it comes to a direct screw on type project. I'm looking for something easy, I'm sorta in a lazy mood ;D....... thanks....... Larry

Shame on you Larry, Santa won't be visiting you Christmas morning because you didn't read the recoil pad info in the FAQs!!! :o :-X ;D :D

The 10003 and others are discussed in at least a couple of the links within the FAQs thread. ;)

Merry Christmas!

Tim

FWIW, it may not be trimmed down pretty and all, but you can put any pad on with couple of screws and use it as is. Just make sure the way you do the screws is going to get it in the right place to be able to trim it proper later; I like to get the top level and true and just do the sides and toe.

You can easily make new holes in the correct spot, if they're too close to the old holes, drill the hole out to  1/8" or 3/16", then glue a piece of hardwood dowel in the hole and drill the new hole after it cures, also works for repairing stripped holes, although a sawdust and wood glue paste works too.  ;) I've also put new holes in Limbsaver pads to work on the synthetic stocks, it's easier to relocate the holes in the pad than in the stock for them.

They fit OK, not perfect, but not awful either...

Here is a couple pics of a Cin Lam and a couple others of a Monti hard wood, same pad.

I think these pics are in the FAQ's, but not positive...
