Encore heavy contour vs. bull, same forend??
« on: December 19, 2010, 05:41:47 PM »
I can't seem to confirm if the same forend will fit both the heavy contour and bull contour barrels for the Encore.  I'm thinking of ordering a barrel in bull contour ( 375 JDJ ) and am now using a heavy contour barrel ( 357 MAX ).  Will the same forend fit?  Thanks much.

I could not say from experience, but if you look at the chart on the bottom of this page, it seems to indicate that there is a different forend for bull vs heavy vs tapered and etc.

Other than the muzzle loader forearm, I use only one for all my Encore barrels.  I use a 12ga Flextech forend and apply spacers(those magic pieces of shotshells) as I switch from 12ga.... down to Katadin...on down to standard contour.  Actually, I have two pieces of leather belt cut for the thickest application, but they work fine for me.  Yes, if you look close, there is a little gap, but I know my barrel is free-floated, it doesn't bother me in the least and you can't even see it from your house ;).

Opps....You do have to change the screws...going from the shotgun to rifle....no problem!

If it does fit a little tight you can sand the inside top edge of the forend to widen it out a bit and it will work just fine.

A true bull vs. heavy contour equal barrel of different diameters at the muzzle. (TC does not make a true bull barrel for the Encore in factory offerings.)

But the heavy contour forends can be made to work for a bull barrel.

Also, some erroneously refer to the "heavy" barrels as bull.

Thanks guys, looks like I may have to do a bit of sanding.
