Ours started on the 10th and so far we have 12 coon, 10 rats and 1 buck mink. Just started another part of our line for fox and coyote today and only got out about 12 sets before it started raining. Pulled part of the first line and will be rotating to new ground every 3 or 4 days or when we have caught the cream and the catch drops off. My buddy is the rat/mink trapper and I like to go after the K-9's.

Picked up one nice male coyote today out of the sets we put in yesterday. Caught him in a two hole flat set using a #3 double long spring. My buddy also snagged another buck mink today. Really thought we would have connected on more coyotes, but one is better than none.

Picked up a nice red fox today in a dirt hole set. Got 3 more snares hung and 6 more dirt sets in as well. I think I have this area pretty much covered. Will see in the morning.

Picked up another red fox and a nice coyote this morning as well as 4 muskrats. I could smell the coyote before I saw her. Very cold and foggy this morning. Obviously didn't bother the critters to much.

Hi Folks,
I've targeted nothing but beaver so far this season. I've got 13 of them already with one of them weighing 73lbs. Good luck to all!!!

My season started out slow and has just gotten slower with more other related time consuming events. I will wind up with about half of last year's totals and trapping half as many days or less. Just not able to shake off the work and volunteer issues along with some deaths of close friends and VFW members etc.
I need to plan better for next year that is for sure.

Another nice coyote today, but had a snare come apart. Wasn't enough sign at the set to say 100% what got in it. Whatever it was got caught and got away very fast, set wasn't hardly tore up at all. I do know it wasn't a deer, but thats about all I know.

Nothing but a small oppossum in one of my 160 buckets, same one I caught an oppossum in yesterday. Should have known it would happen. Was bragging to my trapping partner that we hadn't caught any oppossums. Now its raining oppossums. LOL

Good luck to you Fishdaddy! I was out today and all I got was a wet right foot. I hate it when wadders spring a leak! I ended up drying out my sock on the dashboard with the defroster. I had gone back to some old trapping waters today that I let rest for three years. It seems that the beaver have been busy and I had put out a few sets.

Me and my trapping partner picked up a nice section of creek that has a lot of beaver sign on it. The land owner just planted a couple hundred trees last month and wants the beaver gone. Not sure if we should wait until season and risk losing the property to someone else or go in and trap the beaver on my nuisance permit. The owner put down plastic on the ground and plastic around the trees and covered it all with old hay, but he thinks the beaver will still get to them if we don't take them out first. The beaver have a huge feed pile already so I don't think the saplings are in danger, but don't want to offend the owner and tell him he's wrong. I think we will hold out for a few weeks more and than maybe remove the beaver.

bblwi, sounds like your season is like mine.  The VFW i belong to also had 4  members pass away this trapping season.   Three were WWll vets.  This season has been slow , in fact  about 1/2 of furs as last year.  Things were slow  when season started and then the high water really put  the brakes on.   The coons im getting are  very nice and no smalls at all.  We have had distemper the last ten years  in my area though.
