Scrattin'
« on: December 02, 2010, 06:37:52 AM »
Been trapping as often as I can with the trapping partner. :) Ice has really slowed the process down on our quest to a grand. Pulled the majority of the traps and will wait for walking ice to form. Also hope to get some land sets out this week !

Just another day in paradise.

Selling to Groenwald a few muskrats, mink, and some raccoon

Happy Holidays back to you too.  Im waiting for some walkable ice here too, shouldnt be too long as its close to 5 degrees for last few nights.   Those rats look big.  Have you ever weighed   some of the biggest rats?`

Kristen how did you get interested in trapping? I'd like to get my daughter into it without the feeling of me forcing it upon her.

I have a boyfriend who has been trapping with his dad since he was 5. His passion for trapping was something I no interest in when we first started dating 4 years ago. Jake (my boyfriend) went away to college our first year of dating and I rarely saw him, when he was home for Christmas break all he wanted to do was trap, something I saw as disgusting at the time because I had no knowledge of it. When the next winter rolled around I decided that the only way to spend time with him was to go on the trapline. He took me muskrat trapping and we caught one, after that I was hooked. I've come a long way from last year..dispatching, setting, checking, skinning, fleshing, stretching all on my own. This year I even added to the ever growing collection of traps by buying footholds, snares, and conis. I also made a few dozen colony traps. This will also be my first year deer hunting with my new gun that I hope to try out ! :)
Thanks for your interest.

Fishdaddy footholds where the rats are climbing up on the hut. Ice has really screwed that up so soon it wil be  colonies in the runs.

Your boyfriend is a very lucky guy. I wish my wife would take an interest in trapping with me.
