I need to make my own belt HOW?
« on: September 06, 2010, 04:33:45 PM »
I bought a belt at Walmart, it lasted 3 months. So I went to Fleet Farm it lasted 2 days. I've had it with belts made on China. How do I make a simple belt and where do I get the leather? I live in southern Wisconsin.

Try your local fead store buy a sinch strap atach a buckle to it. I use stuff like this for all kinds of things like braces, sper straps
I am in middle of makin a belt and holster that will look like the johnny ringo rig used in the movie tombstone and mostly I've used tack to buld it

You can order belt blanks from Tandy Leather or The Leather Factory or find a saddle maker and he can cut you a blank from a hide and he probably even has some snaps lying around and would punch the holes and set them for you  for not a lot of money.

The lady at my local Tandy makes saddles too and uses"latigo" to make some of the straps, it is really tough leather. Belt blanks are available at a Tandy also. :)

The burgundy color in latigo will bleed out on your pants.  Don't matter much for work clothes but it won't wash out.
