remington youth model 7
« on: December 04, 2003, 03:38:37 PM »
My first post. Thanks in advance. My 16 year old has outgrown his remington youth model 7 in 7mm-o8 and our minister wants to buy it- sure don't want to make him mad.  Has a nice 2-7 Baucsh and Lomb Elite scope. All about 5-6 years old. Any ideas of what I should ask so I don't burn later on- if you know what I mean. Thanks again.

Are you absolutey certain you want to "give it away"?  The 7mm-08 is a remarkable cartridge that will be used for most every type of hunting he chooses in the future.  The Remington Model 7 can be refitted with a full-length stock from factory to after-market sources.  If you don't want to mess with it, a local gunsmith could do the job.  While you're at it, you can bed the action with a pillar bedding kit from Brownells.

Forester,

First off, WELCOME ABOARD! :D

I agree.  Are you sure that you want to sell it?  Both the gun, and scope, are good quality. I would hate to sell it.

Still, if you are now stuck with selling it to the Minister, you might want to take a look around gunbroker.com to get some ideas on what the value is for both the gun, scope, and rings.

Yeah I like the 7mm-08 too. I just bought him a Remington Mountain Rifle in the same caliber so I really don't need the youth model. And yeah I have kinda committed to our minister. I have been to gunbroker.com and can't find any comparables even after doing a search. Can somebody give me some numbers? Thanks again.

Forester47 :  If you are in that position the blue book list the model 7 youth as 100% at $390 down to $165 in 60% a 90 % rifle at $225 then you will have to add the value of the scope and again thats all book #s so a little up and down depending on the area may come into play, also that rifle is in a premium so hold tight on what you decide on. :D    JIM
