Those are some very nice looking hunting pieces.  I'll bet the other guys on the range sit up and take notice when you touch one of those off.

Admittedly I am a "conservative" sort of guy. The two pictured above are expressly for the "closer" ranges. Both are handloaded only. The 44Mag DE is loaded with a max load of H110 and a 300gr Hornady XTP. The Casull with a 335gr Cast Performance WFNGC and a max load of H110.

Both of these weapons, along with my Glock 20, are used for hog hunting in deer country OR deer hunting in hog country. Also if I go into the area's that could be inhabited by the bigger hogs I wear either in a chest style holster(Bianchi,Ranger)that is very easily accessible and high enough to keep the weapon outta the wet brush and muddy palmetto's. The DE has killed quite a few hogs and several of the bigger boar hogs at >10yds. The closest was at approx. 5ft.

These weapons are primarily used for spot and stalk or from a ladder stand. I consider a open sighted pistol or revo a close range weapon. I like to think of these weapons like bow hunting with a firearm. For me a very long shot would be 50yds. Long would be 30yds. I know some out there will say that they use their open sighted pistol at 100yds+. I would say this, come out to my range,we'll hang up a white 6" pie plate at 75 and 100yds,we'll both slap down a $100 bill, you draw your pistol/revo from it's holster, and hit that pie plate within........?.......heck,I'll give you 8 seconds. Hit the 75yd plate first,if you win we'll double or nothing for the 100yd plate.

To me this will bring the open sighted pistol/revo, shooter/hunter back into the real world. A very limited few could probably accomplish this. The person that has a exceptional weapon...AND...can use it exceptionally well. A person with hundreds of hours of practice at a cost of hundreds of dollars.

Just to be clear,I could hit a 250lb boar hog quite easily at 75yds and probably at 100yds......but where ?? Hind quarter ?? Low gut ?? I will not take a shot unless I can hit that 6" pie plate glued to his shoulder.

YMMV ???   ---pruhdlr

This is one more of my hunting pistols. It is a Glock 20 (10mm). I shoot Double Tap 200gr WFNGC(hardcast) outta it with a 6" Glock OEM bbl installed. For carry I use the normal bbl.

This pistol has also taken several of the larger hogs at the closer ranges. When the swamp is still and quiet, and you see a palmetto gently move, and hear that low, gutteral grunt/growl,it's somewhat comforting to know you have 15+1 and a quick reload at your disposal. ---pruhdlr
